Rusthall Common Fun Day!

  • Date: Saturday 6th June 2026
  • Time: 12 noon - 3pm
  • Location: Common View Meadow on Rusthall Common (wobbling.marble.disbelief on What3Words)
  • Price: Free entry, coins needed for some of the stalls.

Our family fun day will include guided walks with Michael Blencowe (the Sussex Naturalist) and Ranger Dan; bug hunting with Dr Ian Beavis; and a scavenger hunt run by the Friends of the Commons. We are delighted that Hector the Hog will be joining us with his friend and author, Sue Bodkin, while the Rusthall Youth Council will be running a coconut shy and hook-a-duck.

Storytelling enthusiasts can enjoy performances under the oak tree from Ace and Joshua of Ropetackle Storytellers, and we will also be launching our new children’s Conservation Club, with crafts led by Miss Lewis of The Wells Free School. The Sherwood Men’s Shed will be sharing their wonderful handmade creations, Butterfly Conservation Kent will showcase their winged beauties, and the Seroptomists will also be joining us. Charlie’s Angels will be selling their delicious food, along with drinks and nibbles from Charlotte at The Stubborn Goat (or bring a picnic if you prefer!)

You can pre-book tickets for two out of the four very popular guided walks, happening during the Fun Day.
If you want to join walk 1 – Michael Blencowe’s wildlife walk at 11.30am -12.00, tickets are available at £2 each here: Walk 1
If you want to join walk 2 – Ranger Dan’s ‘Best job in the world” walk at 12 noon – 12.30pm, tickets are available at £2 each here: Walk 2
Alternatively you can sign up for walk 3 & 4 at the Fun Day, but this will be on a first come, first served basis.

As you can see, it promises to be a full and joyful afternoon, so do come along and be part of it.
