Accessibility statement

Accessibility Statement for the website for Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons (www.twcommons.org)

The Commons Conservators are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and to comply with applicable standards and guidelines. The Government has produced an excellent guide for disabled computer users. This can be found at AbilityNet (https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/) It has detailed advice on making your device easier to use. This covers such things as making your screen images and text larger, using a text reader to convert text to sound, using Voice Recognition to control your computer, increasing mouse pointer sizes etc.

Our Commitment

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA and the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. These guidelines help make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and more user-friendly for everyone.

We regularly review our site to identify and fix any accessibility barriers. While we strive to make all pages and content accessible, some older documents (such as PDFs of meeting minutes) may not yet fully meet accessibility standards. We are working to provide accessible alternatives where possible.

Accessibility Features

Our website includes the following to support accessibility:

  • Keyboard-navigable menus and interactive elements
  • Ability to navigate most of the website using a keyboard or screen reader
  • Ability to zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen
  • Use of clear headings and consistent layout structure.

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
